LaJoia Broughton

As the President of Alpha Strategies, LaJoia develops customized and integrated legislative and public affairs programs for a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from nonprofits to corporations. With over 20 years of experience in the private and public sectors, she has a proven track record of building strong relationships, influencing decision-makers, and achieving positive outcomes.

LaJoia also serves as a Richland-Lexington Airport Commissioner at Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), where she advises and provides feedback on company initiatives focused on the customer travel experience and community interests of the airport.

Prior to launching Alpha Strategies, LaJoia served as the Executive Director for the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus where she managed the agenda and strategic direction of the Caucus.  Additionally, she has led as a political consultant for several successful campaigns and served as the South Carolina State Director for Deval Patrick’s 2020 Presidential Campaign. 

 

LaJoia is passionate about advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and has been recognized as a 2023 Women of Influence honoree by the Columbia Regional Business Report.

 

She holds a Master of Mass Communications degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Furman University.
